Best Practice: maintain a balance amongst attention to email, chats, twitter, and work interrupts

Using Outlook Rules and Alerts and Chat tool configuration, I am managing to improve my ability to maintain a balance amongst attention to email, chats, twitter, and work interrupts.  This is a dynamic mostly-manual iterative process. Automation and/or management of this process would ideally be done using XMPP, in some form or another.

Does anyone know of XMPP-based tools or bots that can be used to manage interrupts from Outlook and Jabber/Windows Live Messenger?

My A-List and My System - in a nutshell

A-List - My Annotated Tag Cloud: High-level topics / tags, that are important to me, that are linked to individual documents, on that subject. Sort of like having a personal Wikipedia.
About / Overview - My System» At the very core, Web 2.0» has a trait of serendipity. The trick is to manage this serendipity, either mentally and/or physically. Personally, I need to touch and feel things (kinetic learner), so I make it physical, for each subject or topic, using My Template» and tying them together with My Annotated Tag Cloud (A-List»): High-level topics /
tags, that are important to me, that are linked to individual documents, on that subject. Sort of like having a personal Wikipedia.

1. Who is the audience? What is the best means of publishing/Authoring»? (e.g. am I just researching a topic for me? Do I already know the best means of publishing?)

2. Shoud I use passive (Blog post) or active share (Status broadcast with single service or mulitple)? - Ping.fm» and Hellotxt» can send to multiple statuses.

Ping.fm

In Larry King's interview with Jon Stewart, Larry, asked him about the primaries. Larry asked Jon if America was ready for a woman or a black president. Jon looked at him quizzically and said "This is such a non-question ... Did anyone ask us in 2000 if Americans were ready for a MORON?"

Tip: Awesome Mozilla Add-Ons: FastDial(http://lilurl.org/m40ba9) - replaces about:blank with thumbnails of sites of your choosing.

Time for some prose, about Epiphany Suit

I owe it to myself, and to my readers :-) to explain more about my thoughts for the Web_2.0» applicability to an "Epiphany Suit", with current technology. As I love seeing examples, here goes...

My current focus is on using the Browser as the lenses of the suit, and as a means of doing on-the-fly research on topics as they come up.

Surely Jott can be used as a component for an Epiphany Suit. Look at all of the places you can Jott to...

Twitter, Yahoo Groups, Jaiku, Zillow, Thirty Boxes, Blogger, Live Journal, TypePad, WordPress, Tumblr, Remember the Milk, Sandy, Xpenser, Gumiyo, Trapster, Mosio, Vitalist, Google Calendar, Toodledo, Nozbe, Mentat, Keep Up, Smartsheet, Heap, Fortythree Actions, kwiry

And this list keeps growing!!!

Experimenting with RTM (Remember The Milk), Jott, and Twitter

Lately I have been experimenting with RTM (Remember The Milk), Jott, and Twitter.

I also dabble in Pownce and Jaiku.

And I use Twitku to post to all three (Twitter, Jaiku, and Pownce) in one shot.

Mostly, I use Twitterfox to post to and follow in twitter.

Using twitter, I have been posting events to my Google Calendar.

And adding todos to RTM from twitter too.

Sadly, I read "TwitKu service to end May 15"

Sadly, I read "TwitKu service to end May 15. Sorry folks, but I just cannot devote the time, money and energy to this project any longer. It was fun while it lasted."

I use Twitku a lot! I, for one, will be sorry to see it go. Anyone else feel this way? Any ideas of how to save it? Any alternatives?

Hyperwords for Windows, not just for Browsers anymore (or soon, at least)

As HyperWordsworks so well from my Mozilla Browsers (firefox and flock), I am taking the beta release of Hyperwords for Windows, for a test drive. Have not decided anything yet, besides that it is looking good, albeit somewhat annoying as it interferes with copy (control-c) after highlighting text, but this is not that different from the Hyperwords Browser Add-on Version.

Puns with people’s names
(e.g. "Sit up, Chuck”)

A friend of mine is delighted by puns with people’s names in them. He was teacher for many years and had gathered quite a few (puns), but he did not save the list from the chalkboard.

Here’s a few of them, to get us started, but I would greatly enjoy any more if anyone can think of some!
  • Sit up, Chuck
  • Pull the curtain, Rod
  • Pass the water, Lou
  • Hi, Gene
  • Would you help me move the lumber, Jack?
Any more, anyone?

How to use existing software to implement a first generation Epiphany Suit

Using existing software, it is possible to begin to implement the first geneartion of the Epiphany Suit, albeit without the contact lens and the clothes, using a Mozilla browser Addon called "Hyperwords", Mozilla browser Search_Plugins», and My_System». Hyperwords allows for search, in-line [language] translation, and many more things, straight from any web page!!! Have a look at the demo. Also, using a more traditional solution that uses a familiar paradigm, Search_Plugins» can be added to your Mozilla browser (e.g. Firefox, Flock), and searches can occuring from the browser's search box*. And using My_System», you can categorically record things that you learn about or research, for future reference. For example, use a single starting place full of links to your various subjects/topics. For example: My A-List - My Epiphany Suit / My Annotated Tag Cloud: High-level topics / tags, that are important to me, that are linked to individual documents, on that subject. Sort of like having a personal Wikipedia

Add-on Extensions

What are Add-ons? "Add-ons are small pieces of software that can add new features or tiny tweaks to your [Mozilla Browser] They can add new search engines or dictionaries in other languages, change the look of [your Browser] with a new theme, or much more. Netscape Navigator

Official End of Support

on March 1, 2008:
Netscape suggests Flock or Firefox.

Why choose Flock? ...

Even with loading Firefox with extensions, you do not get the integration that Flock offers. For example, to blog from Firefox you can use the ScribeFire extension. And to save webclips you can you can use another extension. And in this scenerio you will not be able to combine the use of a blog extension with a web clip extension, say, to copy from one to the other. But with Flock’s built-in Blog editor and Flock’s built-in Web Clipboard tool, you can copy from the web clips to the blog editor with ease.

There of several built-in features of Flock that are extremely appealing…
